To all KIC Dancers,

Following guidance from The Scottish Government, YouthLink Scotland and Sport Scotland, we are delighted that KIC classes will return in an outdoor setting.

VENUE & TIME

All classes will run from Wednesday 19th August until Thursday 17th September when this arrangement will be reviewed, and a further announcement will be made.

Classes previously held at Lasswade and Loanhead will run at Bonnyrigg Rose Community Football Club.

Above is the location for the outdoor Bonnyrigg Classes

Bonnyrigg Rose request that parents do not use the car park when dropping off and picking up dancers – please leave this available for staff, volunteers, and coaches. The car park at Lasswade Rugby Club can be used by parents.

Additionally, adults are not allowed to stay at the pitch during class and must leave the sports complex to reduce the number of adults on site.

Please note that there are no toilet facilities available for now at the BRCFC complex therefore it is extremely important that dancers go to the toilet before coming to class.

At the entrance to the sports complex there is a dedicated waiting area for classes to meet. Please refer to your email for class specific details.

All Penicuik classes will be held on their normal days at their normal times and classes will take place within the grounds of Penicuik High School (at the area behind the science block). Access to the space is via Bellman’s Road. The KIC team will be on hand to direct and assist.

To reduce the number of adults onsite, parents are not allowed to stay on site during the class.

Please note that there are no toilet facilities available for now therefore it is extremely important that dancers go to the toilet before coming to class.

ADVERSE WEATHER PLAN

In adverse weather where it is not safe to dance outdoors, classes will be held via zoom.

Notification of classes not going ahead outdoors will be made on our website (www.kicdance.co.uk -> click on ‘Latest News’) and followed up on social media. Parents should check these sites for information, and refrain from sending individual queries as we may not be able to reply to all messages in time.

If no announcement is made, classes will be held outdoors.

If classes are being held on zoom, the meeting details are:

Meeting ID 869 580 9208

Password 0015360

Please sign in to zoom using the dancers name so that this is shown on screen otherwise, we might not be able to admit you to the class.

UNIFORM

KIC uniform is not required at outdoor classes and dancers should dress appropriately for the weather and outdoor environment. Lightweight trainers or jazz shoes should be worn to all classes. Additionally, Ballet and Highland dancers should bring ballet/highland shoes with them and a pair of old socks to wear over the top of them.

FEES

As you know, class fees should continue to be paid monthly by standing order and as classes are returning in a face-to-face setting, fees will revert to full price as full class costs are now being incurred (outdoor venues are being rented). Please ensure that your standing order is set up and contact kicfund@hotmail.co.uk if you have any queries.

Refunds for the reduced rate offered during lockdown can now be calculated and we will be progressing with this throughout the autumn term. Please bear with us whilst we calculate and arrange nearly 1000 refunds. We will be in touch with you directly to discuss your refund.

HEALTH & SAFETY IN CLASS

To ensure our classes are COVID compliant and delivered in a safe environment, we have followed the guidance provided by YouthLink Scotland, Sports Scotland and our insurance company.

We have undertaken and documented a comprehensive risk assessment which is attached for parents to view and a copy will be available to see at any of our classes. Additionally, a safety checklist will be completed before any of our outdoor classes and the following measures have been implemented:

  • A safety induction has been completed for all staff and volunteers

  • All staff and volunteers will have their temperature checked on arrival

  • All participants are asked to wash their hands and go to the toilet before coming to class

  • Hand sanitiser will be available at every class

  • All hand apparatus/equipment will be sanitised between use and we will only use props with hard surfaces to avoid cross-contamination

  • Any participant who is unwell, displaying symptoms of COVID19 or is living with somebody displaying symptoms, should not attend class

  • Social distancing measures appropriate to the age group will be adhered to

  • Dancers should not bring any personal belongings with them to class other than a water bottle if required

SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES

Junior Girls / Junior Break / Senior 1: dancers do not need to social distance

All other classes: dancers should socially distance where possible

We understand that online and outdoor classes are not ideal however we are trying our best to keep our dancers engaged, keep them fit and look after their whole well being during this challenging time. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing everyone in an outdoor class soon. If you have any questions, please contact kicfund@hotmail.co.uk

Following the ever changing announcements from Midlothian Council and in anticipation of further decisions of imminent closures, the teaching staff at KIC Dance are busy working on contingency plans to allow the majority of our students to continue with their dance training in a virtual setting.

Please keep an eye on our social media pages for updates as this will be our primary platform for communication. At this time we would ask you to kindly refrain from contacting staff directly and use our official KIC communication channels for any correspondence.
